FRIDAY FAVORITES. HOLIDAY EDITION.

Hey friends! I am linking up today with AndreaNarci and Erika. I usually share random favorites from the week, but today I want to share why we don’t have an Elf on the Shelf and now have a Shepherd on the Search.

I know, I know it’s early to be talking about Christmas and some of you are either loving the thought of Christmas currently, or your cringing because Thanksgiving is next and you like to celebrate one holiday at a time. We are the first kind listed above and we may already have trees up and on;)

We use to have an Elf and had him for about 4 years and then last year he did not “return” at the beginning of the Christmas season. I am aware all families are different and some have elves and some do not. The girls still believe that those are Santas helpers and they fly back every night to the North Pole, and are still pretty bummed ours never returned last Christmas season.

We do have a Shepherd on the Search. I had heard about them from a friend, and we had one delivered to our porch last Christmas season, I love that this helps us to be intentional and more Christ centered thru the holidays in our home.

The website says this “Discover the joy of finding Christ in Christmas. Daily ADVENTures are fun ways to engage your children as you countdown to Christmas and search for baby Jesus.”

We have the kit above, and also this Advent book.

The Advent book has scripture readings, and family friendly activities. We move him around because he is on a search thru December to find baby Jesus, and on Christmas morning we open up the manger box and he has found them. He is not magic and the kids play with him during the day usually.

Again, I know this isn’t for everyone but we like the Shepherds purpose and activities and it helps us to remember the reason for the season.

I want to know if you guys have an Elf? Or maybe a Shepherd? Let me know below!
