CHICAGO 2021.

Happy Friday!

We are on the end of catching up on all the laundry over here from vacation, and well anything to get a break from that. Ha! So instead of folding, I’m sharing about our first leg of vacation.

The girls love LEGOs but especially Ellie. So when talks of Legoland Chicago started, it kind of spiraled into summer vacation.

We left last Thursday morning for the weekend in the city. Brandon was raised in a suburb of Chicago and doesn’t remember much of it at all, and I had been when I was 11 or 12 with a friend but that was it. We were excited to be somewhere basically new to all of us.

We checked into our hotel mid afternoon Thursday. We loved our stay at the River Hotel and all of the staff was great. It was right along the river walk so we headed out to see what that was about.

We came across the park district offering fishing on the river, so Brandon and the girls took a turn at it.

We grabbed ice cream before dinner then Chick Fil A and called it an early night.

The next morning came quick and we had big plans to get to…

Legoland Discovery Center!

The displays were crazy impressive, the rides were fun and the little movie had us laughing. It was a few hours of entertainment.

I apparently quit taking pictures that day after Legoland. We went back to the city and found the park, Avery rock climbed and we got caught in the pouring rain. Memories we won’t ever forget;)

The next morning we had tickets to go to an Olympic activity at American Girl. It was so cute and Avery was pumped.

They decorated cupcakes…

Then they shopped at the mall with the money they earned this summer. We went back to the park to mini golf, and by hole 13 we were getting rained on again. Pretty sure that’s our sign we didn’t need park time;) Ha. The Maggie Daley park was awesome though, rain or shine.

We went to Navy Pier were we seen these quadcycles that looked fun. However, Ellie and I didn’t know what we were in for because the front row kept telling us to peddle harder and kept asking if we were even peddling. Anyone who knows Brandon knows he bikes seriously and often. We weren’t ready for a coach like him. Kidding, kind of. It was fun though and the view of Lake Michigan was worth it.

We walked the pier and then called it a night.

The next morning we went to breakfast and then checked out of the hotel and headed for the dunes.

I’ll share that next week sometime.

Have the best weekend!
